I hope y’all are having a blessed day. I’m in a damn good mood right now, so I decided to put my happiness towards something fun and productive. I love talking about the Titans no matter what. Even though the season didn’t end the way we all wanted to end, there’s plenty of reasons to feel optimistic about the offseason.
Titans have around $75M ($75,817,844 to be exact) in cap space heading into the start of free agency. This is a huge deal because the Titans have holes to fill at multiple positions. In order for the Titans to bounce back from a 6-11 record in 2023, they must find a way to address the offensive line, wide receiver group, and their secondary. I expect the Titans to be active especially when it comes to high profile free agents/players and so far, the Titans haven’t disappointed.
Earlier this week, wide receiver Mike Evans signed a 2-year contract extension worth $52 million with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Shortly after the news broke, Dianna Russini reported that multiple teams had Mike Evans on their free agent wide receiver board. One of the teams listed was the Tennessee Titans.
I’ve been very vocal about my thoughts on how the Titans should address their wide receiver situation. They need to get younger and faster. My feelings haven’t changed, but Mike Evans is still one of them dudes at 30 years old. The man hasn’t done shit but put up over 1,000 yards in every season of his 9-year career in the league. He also won a Super Bowl ring in the process. It’s safe to say he’s getting a gold jacket one day. I would’ve been more than excited had the Titans added Evans.
The Kansas City Chiefs placed the franchise tag on cornerback L’Jarius Sneed this week as well. Sneed still has permission to seek a trade. On Tuesday, Tyler Dragon of USA Today said that multiple teams have inquired about Sneed. Once again, the Titans were amongst the 7 teams that were mentioned.
Sneed would be a massive upgrade at CB for the Titans. I don’t even have to go into great detail as to why, but the Titans desperately need to address the secondary. The best CB on the roster as of today his Roger McCreary, and he’s better suited to play the slot.
All this tells me is that the Titans are active right now, and I love it. This is what the fan base needs to see. We need to see the Titans name in the mix when it comes to players that could fill the massive holes that are on the roster. We can’t sign or trade for everybody, but I at least want to see the Titans’ name out there this offseason. I feel like they are looking to make a few splashes this offseason, and I pray to the football gods that they do.
